  Nai Harn Beach

Nai Harn beach is surrounded by lush jungle and mountains with a freshwater lagoon found inland, perfect for the kids to swim in all year round. It is located in the south of the island close to many small secluded beaches and bays. The hotels located here are all of a very high standard and offer the ultimate in luxury and facilities. They all have their own pools and some have private sections of the beach, only for residents of the hotel.

The sea is crystal clear, warm and very inviting however, from June through until November, there are undercurrents and large waves which makes swimming occasionally off limits. Other popular water sports include snorkelling, surfing (especially at the northern end of the beach), boarding, jet skiing and scuba diving.

Activites out of the water include volleyball, with games played every evening; jogging, hiking in the mountains and mountain bike riding. All equipment can be rented from hire shops along the beach. Shopping is virtually non-existent here although there are a few souvenir and beach wear shops throughout the town. For anything more, visitors should head to the larger beaches where there will be much more choice.

Restaurants on Nai Harn are aplenty and with many of them scenically located on the beach front, they are a perfect place to watch the sun go down. The choice of cuisine is very impressive for such a small beach with steak, ribs, seafood, French, Thai, Italian, Indian and Mexican all available. Establishments vary in price with small local Thai eateries offering very cheap dishes and exclusive international restaurants in the stylish resorts being somewhat more expensive.

If you want to venture away from the beach for a night, there are many good restaurants found inland offering local dishes and very good prices. Other options include the street stalls, beach vendors and hawkers.

Nai Harn's nightlife is as laid back as its daytime options. There are many bars on the beach serving up cocktails and offering a chilled out atmosphere to the accompaniment of reggae music. Bars generally close at midnight, although they will stay open for an hour or so later if you are drinking. You will be made to feel very welcome and while there are not enough bars for a full pub crawl, it is possible to have a drink or two at one establishment before moving onto the next.
