Panwa is a popular beach with the locals and expats due to is natural beauty and views across Chalong Bay and Lone Island. While it is sandy, the sand is coarse and the water shallow.
Condos blocks and villas line the beach alongside local restaurants and street vendors. There is one bar selling a variety of drinks and snacks and away from the beach on the road leading up the hill, there are more restaurants and bars to choose from.
If you are not a guest of one of the hotels on the beach, you will find very little in the way of facilities. Longtail boats are available for rent and during the peak season, there is a small business on the beach selling beach accessories.
This is the ideal place to escape reality for the day, but not a great place to visit for a night out due to the lack of options. It is more like a deserted island than a beach on Phuket; a fact which is its biggest asset.
