Foreigners will always receive a very warm welcome to Laem Ka beach, because so few usually make it here, and will be offered food, drink, company and the best spots on the beach.
The views across Koh Bon, Koh Lone and Coral Island are stunning, and the islands themselves can be reached by long tail boat. However, the boats are only available for hire during the peak months of November through until March. Other water sports are very limited with swimming and snorkelling the extent of options available; people do not visit Laem Ka for an activity-filled day.
Facilities are very limited here with one shop, only open from November through until May, a handful of beach masseuses and a medium-sized restaurant all located towards the northern end of the beach. Throughout the peak months of November to March, beach vendors do make irregular appearances trying to sell their wares but if it is food you are after, it is adviseable to stock up before you arrive.
The southern end is rocky, but when the tide is high, it is still suitable for swimming and is an excellent place to snorkel. The middle of the beach is scattered with granite boulders making the northern end the most popular with all who visit. Laem Ka is extremely child-friendly and if you have a family it is an excellent place to bring them as they will be safe in the shallow water and be able to interact with local Thai children.
