There are not many facilities on the beach, but if you are staying at one of the resorts nearby it is the perfect place to get close to nature while working on your tan. It is not very well known among tourists or local Thais as most people simply pass it by. However, if you are lucky enough to come across it, you will find that it is peaceful, beautiful and virtually deserted.
Towards the end of the beach you will find a couple of resorts and there is one restaurant along its stretch serving up a variety of dishes from both Thailand and abroad. Other than that, all you will find is the occasional food vendor, a small water sports hire facility, beach massage areas and people who are passing through. Much of the beach is covered in untamed shrubbery and vegetation. However, this adds to its charm and the sandy parts in the sun are not affected by the overgrowth at all.
The water surrounding the beach is not very deep and there are many rocky areas which make swimming difficult. The best place to swim is at the end which is closest to Patong Beach. These rocky coves are however perfect for snorkelling as a wide variety of sea life can be found here. Jet skis can be rented although they are only available during the peak season. For a wider selection of water sports, it is adviseable to head to nearby Patong. Emerald Beach is really for those who want to leave the bustle of Patong behind them and escape for a day.
